Ah yes… muddy summer festivals, groups of friends huddled together for a sing-a-long and being captivated by the glorious music of James.
A seminal band with hits like Sit Down, Born of Frustration, Ring The Bells and yes, for you in the back, Laid, James got lumped in with the British Madchester scene of the late 80’s/ early 90’s. Despite this - or perhaps because of it - they managed to carve out for themselves a very unique identity and we couldn’t be happier that all the noises coming out of the UK about the new record, Hey Ma (out in the US on September 16th) are favorable. This is your wake-up call.
Thanks to the The LA Times for the tip off.
She & Him made another TV appearance on Thursday, as musical guests on The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson.
“Change Is Hard” is one of our favorite songs from She & Him’s Volume One album. Zooey obviously has a little Bobbie Gentry in her. We know Zooey always references Linda Ronstadt in interviews, but we hear a lot of Brian Wilson’s Spring and Laura Nyro in there too.
The fabulous David Garland from WNYC dedicated a whole show to the She & Him album and its influences last week. Listen to it here.
We really hope there will be more tour dates from the band soon. Watch this space!
There’s no point in even writing a description about this because it speaks so fantastically for itself. Great song, great video, great everything. We’re in love. Just watch.
